Reading

April 18th, 2010

Sunday morning.
Getting up with great intentions to cook up a storm of food only to find the ingredients missing.

Bleh.

What I’m reading: Scoutie Girl – embracing abundance :: breaking the scarcity mindset

“forget all the i-wishes and if-onlys and make a choice today that embraces the abundance that you already have and the abundance that is right around the corner. and then walk around the corner and pummel that abundance into submission too.”

New singer guy

April 17th, 2010

I liked the first singer guy so much that I made a 2nd. Here he is. He’s nice in his own way, sporting skinny jeans and boots and more of a 5:00 shadow than a full beard.

Spring

April 11th, 2010

My forsythia is in bloom!!!!!

But, naturally I’m inside sewing.

And here is….. My favourite so far:

singer6

At first he was going to have a laptop and groat, but then last night I suddenly knew he needed a guitar. This guitar took me a couple of tries and it still isn’t right but it will do for this one because – yes – there will be more.

I actually want to keep him, but I finally did list him in etsy. Most of me is hoping people really like him but no one really wants to buy him.

Orangutan

April 5th, 2010

I was informed by the resident speller that orangutan does not have a “g” on the end, but I see upon googling that it can be spelled either way.

Anyway, here’s my orangutan(g):

gor9

The idea for her just suddenly appeared in my head. While making her I love her, but as soon as I finished I realized she was hideous.

I threw my sewing machine down in disgust.

It hit the table with a loud clump noise.

Today the House-Speller declared it the “Best Yermit Ever.” There’s no accounting for taste.

I just don’t know what to do with it. List it for a laugh? Oh horrors.

gor7

What is it exactly that makes it so horrible? The candy floss pink/orange fur? The combination orange, red and pink clothing? The mismatched eyes? Those fuzzy hands and feet?

I don’t know. Thoughts?

The circus continues

Another drunken bear done.

I know, I know. I’m a sad person.

I’m going to make another one today though.

To be happy …

March 26th, 2010

make other people happy. ~W. Clement Stone

I made a new treasury for Etsy.

treasury - march 26

I finished the bear from last night, but I haven’t listed him yet. I think I might try to do an illustration to go along with the bears – my first thought was something along the lines of a circus poster, but we’ll see how that goes. I actually wouldn’t mind getting some new paints and having a crack at something. I miss it.

In my sewing room this evening…

March 25th, 2010

These 3 jokers were hanging out together on my sewing table tonight, drunk as usual.

Actually, the grey and black guy is the one I was working on tonight – - and he’s turning out to be as drunk as the others, and a bit meaner to boot.

And apparently this point just can’t be made enough in my artwork over the past year. I have about 5 of these pinned up on the boards (various colours and designs), and a bunch more stored below.

I wonder when I’m going to get that one out of my system.

Licorice

March 20th, 2010

I don’t know why that word (licorice) always looks wrong to me, but it does.

I found this red licorice fabric last week but now it’s out of my system.

She’s tall. 19″. 40+cm. Bit of flapper channeling going on. I tried out a new bag design.
